Siemens
Medical Group had been working with Camden Medical Center,
part of the Southeast Georgia Healthcare System, to provide
a new and integrated MRI. One of the barriers to completing
the transaction was building a facility to house the MR
magnet at a cost the Center would accept. Based on our
relationship with Siemens, MedBuild was asked to address
this aspect with the Medical Center. Camden Medical Center
wanted the MR facility to be seamless with the existing
center while complying with all the building restrictions
required for housing an MR unit.
MedBuild, working with both the Medical Center and Siemens, was able to provide a prefabricated building which became a fully integrated addition, that meet the following standards and criteria:
• The unit was delivered to the site with RF shielding
already installed, so that the last step was installing
the actual magnet on-site
• Foundation work as well as the main structure were constructed
with steel and concrete super structures to accommodate
the heavy equipment load
• Foundation and support structure also took into consideration
the stringent vibration minimization requirements
• The MRI addition was integrated and attached to the
main building with adjacency to the existing imaging department.
The exterior was finished to seamlessly match the outside
of the present building and the rest of the medical center
aesthetics. Patients are greeted by an interior that is
finished in soft lighting, hard wood flooring, soothing
wall colors and decorations.
