Avon
needed someone to design and build a comprehensive breast
center to address the challenges of delivering breast
cancer outreach, screening, follow-up and treatment to
low-income communities through the public health system.
MedBuild provided a state-of-the-art turnkey solution to meet the needs of the hospital and the underserved low-income population. The new center, which hopes to serve as many as 10,000 patients-per-year, features component construction which reduced time and on-site disruption.
The roof of the patient waiting and changing area climbs from the center to create a dramatic two-story corner glass façade. X-ray, viewing, staff lounge, record storage, waiting and changing rooms complete the layout of the fully integrated diagnostic center. Much effort and care went into selecting the colors, finishes and fixtures to create a warm, comfortable and soothing space. The child-friendly design also features a “healing garden” in the courtyard created within the center of the buildings.
